Combining an outdoor lifestyle with high-end shopping opportunities, Corte Madera has the best aspects of a small town with many of the benefits of a larger city. While it is very small and has limited resources, its proximity near San Francisco, San Rafael and many other Bay Area cities makes living in Corte Madera convenient.

With a little more than 9,000 residents living in Corte Madera, those who live in town revel in the small-town feel and close-knit community. However, living in this small town doesn’t mean residents have to forgo any of the benefits of living in a city. With San Francisco close by, Corte Maderans have access to a number or artistic, culinary and cultural opportunities.

While Corte Madera is close to San Francisco, the town is far enough away to escape the city’s well-known foggy clutches. Most days in Corte Madera are free of rain, and the temperatures rarely drop too low, even in winter, making it a great town to live in all year long, especially if you love being outdoors.

Residents enjoy the charming and friendly town community, as well as the uniquely beautiful landscape. With a multitude of trails for hiking and biking, locals take to the outdoors to enjoy the mild climate all year long, even heading to the farmers market every Wednesday in Town Center, where residents can stroll and find delicious and fresh, local ingredients for their kitchens.

With both old and new residential districts in Corte Madera, residents have many choices of where to live. From the wooded areas of Chapman Park and Christmas Tree Hill to areas nearer to town, Corte Madera houses grant a variety of choices to owners. However, the most important thing that the town provides to its neighborhoods is a solid education program. With many schools recognized as California Distinguished Schools and ranked as a nine out of 10 on the Academic Performance Index rating, Corte Madera public education is among the best in the state. This is to be expected though when you consider that the percentage of the population in Corte Madera that is college-educated is double the state average.

In addition, the surround areas hold enough bands, theaters and museums for adults and children to learn and receive a dose of culture.
