Website: www.marincountyparks.org/depts/pk/divisions/open-space/ring-mountain

Atop the Tiburon Peninsula lies the Ring Mountain Open Space Preserve, a piece of land that was saved from development by the Nature Conservancy. Due to its unique geology and microclimate, the location is home to a variety of rare plants that can grow in the toxic, serpentine soil, including the Tiburon Mariposa Lily which cannot be found anywhere else on Earth. If you are interested in seeing some of this rare plant life, there are several ways to access the trails on this preserve. The best way is to start at Paradise Drive’s trailhead and then follow the Phyllis Ellman Loop Trail to the top of the point, where the lilies are. The wildflowers along the path are also breathtaking during the spring, and you will be able to enjoy views of the Bay Area and San Francisco from the top of the point.
